The First Step In Optimising Your Website Conversions

As a business owner there’s really only one reason to build a website.

Generate more leads…Or

Generate more sales.

A website is simply one of many marketing tools at your disposal. Though if you use it right it can become hugely profitable and highly automated giving you time and money to go out…And…Ah…LIVE YOUR LIFE.

A successful website requires…

  1. Quality Traffic
  2. Optimising Website Conversion Rate
  3. Great Customer Follow Up System

Today we are going to focus on number 2.

Optimising Website Conversion Rate

Actually we are going to focus on the very the first step in optimising your website conversions.

Capturing Visitor Details Via Email Opt-In

Capturing the email addresses of as many of your website visitors as possible is of the highest importance.

You’ve already done the work and spent the money to get them there – You don’t want to let them slip off into the night without at least leaving their email address.

How Do You Get The Your Visitors To Opt-In?

It’s simple.

You solve a problem for them.

You find out what is a problem that your ideal customers share and you provide a simple, fast and effective solution. And you give it to them for free in exchange for their email address.

Again, you need to do your market research to discover what these problems are on a deeper level, but once you do you can provide your solution in a number of ways.

  • A short PDF report containing mistakes to avoid, questions to ask, resources to use, tools to try.
  • A mini course teaching them skills and strategies related to your business or indistry. This can be done in PDF, Video or Audio form.
  • A simple checklist or resource list that would be helpful or time saving.
  • Maybe even a free consultation if the sale value is high enough to justify your time investment.

The great thing about all these free opt-in offers is that you only create them once and they will keep working for you. (Except of course the consultation).

The biggest thing is that you need to make it super simple for people to sign up.

3 big things to consider are…

Is your opt-in form easy to find?
(Put it on your home page in a highly visible area, at the bottom of your Blog post etc.)

Does the title of your give-away create desire in your target market?
(This is where copywriting is so important)

Does your gift really provide great value to your subscribers? (This is your chance to cement yourself as the industry expert. Don’t offer a bunch of crap that is worthless to your customers. Give away some of your very best secrets to really get them interested in how good all your paid products or services will be)

Why Would I Try To Get An Email Address, I Want To Make Money?

Yes of course that’s true. But this is how you maximise your profits.

Out of all the visitors to your site, only a small percentage is red-hot, ready to buy right now.

These people will generally buy anyway.

But to build a really successful website you need to capitalise on all the people who are just window shopping, or need a little more info, or want to find out a little more about you’re your products and services before they hand over their hard-earned cash.

You see your market is like a moving parade. Some are ready to buy now, some next week, some maybe next year. If you can at least get their email addresses you can follow-up with prospects by providing great value, this helps you to maximise the value of each and every visitor to your website. (When you make more off each website visitor, you can outspend your competition on marketing)

Once you understand the value of your website visitors who don’t buy on the first visit you will unlock a new flood of profits.

Take Away

You must have some kind of compelling FREE offer that is highly visible and highly desirable on your website.

You must be consistent and follow up with leads by providing great value.

You must understand the value of your website visitors who aren’t ready to buy or aren’t ready to ask for a quote just yet. They’re still great leads.

Make it easy to “Say Yes” to something on your site and instead of a bunch of invisible website visitors counted as number inside your Analytics account, you’ll have a list of prospects you can contact for free anytime you want.

I know what I’d prefer.

Leave your comments about some of the opt-in offers you’ve seen or tried before.
